The seasons of friendships

Dearest,

How are you in this moment? Do your eyelids feel heavy or were you completely unaware of them until you thought about it? How do they feel when you blink slowly - opening and closing smoothly and consciously. Now try rapid blinking - what do you notice?

What adventures did you create for yourself this week? Was it to an overseas paradise or time well spent exploring somewhere new where you live? Whatever the week held for you I hope you experienced joy and gratitude for the things, people and memories surrounding you.

How do you feel after spending time with your current circle of friends? Do they inspire and encourage or do they moan, gossip and blame?

Friendships go through their seasons too. Some are like Kauri - long growing and strong. There through every season, enduring and recovering from destructive storms. You always feel their presence even if you aren't physically close. If we are lucky, we will have one or two friends like this.

Then we have those vibrant annuals - high energy joy, delighting us with the colours they bring to our lives. They are wonderful for this moment, however, with time things just fad and die away. Nothing specifically causes this - just proximity normally - with weekly catch ups turning to monthly, then full years pass.

Sometimes these friends reconnect in another time and the vibrancy is rekindled immediately for another sustaining season. They are a mix of the perennials and deciduous.

Then we have the weeds. The type that sucks the energy, always taking and only ever focused on themselves. Though some can be beautiful you can spot them by the toxic gossip they spread, only ever talking negatively about others. These are the ones we should always remove - not allowing them to destroy the beautiful garden you are nurturing and consciously creating.

I hope your garden contains wonderful Kauri, annuals and perennials. I hope your friend circles energise and are a source of joy. Remember, Dearest, a garden with a single Kauri is better than one full of weeds.

What is something you can do to tend to your friendship garden this week to give love to those that matter? A txt to tell them you are thinking of them, a catch up over coffee or a shared walk. Whatever you decide, I hope it's another magical moment in this very special life you are living, because Dearest - you are worth it.

Take care Dearest - of yourself, of others, of your thoughts, of your actions and of our wonderful world.

You are worthy - always

Ngā manaakitanga xx

PS: This week I'd like to gift you a song. Put it on loud and sing in the shower at least once this week - dancing is also very much encouraged!
